Introduction

The internet is a relatively new invention that has significantly changed the lives of people all over the world since its introduction, and that will continue to change our lifestyles as the technology continues to grow and change. After only about fifteen years of the internet being available to the public, there is not much that we can’t do from a computer that has an internet connection.

Among the things that the internet has allowed us to do without even leaving the computer are: research, meet people, keep in touch with old friends, shop, keep track of bank accounts, find out news instantaneously, watch tv, and find other forms of entertainment. The internet has formed a world in and of itself that is not defined by physical locations at all, but instead is defined by smaller overlapping communities of people who are interested in doing the same types of things with their internet connections. With the internet, it is just as possible to be connected to people on the other side of the world as it is to be connected to people who are physically closer. Sometimes the internet is called the “world wide web,” which is a very fitting name, because it connects people from all over the world.

This website has information about all of the things I mentioned above, as well as relevant links in each section to websites where you can learn even more than what you find here.
